I, on the other hand, was taken completely aback, not knowing how to react. I did the best thing I could do in the situation - acknowledge their smiles with a teeny tiny tentative upwards arch of my own lips, my eyes meeting theirs ever so briefly then slide somewhere else. I only became aware of the magic a few seconds after they've passed me by. I tried to get it back but the magic was fleeting, and disappeared as quickly as it came.
